About Krishnanagar Dakshin Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency
Krishnanagar Dakshin is a legislative assembly segment in Nadia district of West Bengal. It belongs to the Ranaghat (SC) Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituency of the state. The constituency came into existence in 2008 after the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India were implemented. The constituency comprises Krishnanagar community development block; Ruipukur, Bhat Jungla, Dignagar, Chak Dilnagar and Daypara gram panchayats of Krishnanagar-I CD block as recommended by the Delimitation Commission.
The Election Commission of India, in 2014, enlisted a total of 1,94,219 people of the Krishnanagar Dakshin as eligible voters as per the Universal Adult Suffrage. Amongst all the voters in the constituency, 1,01,045 are men and 93,172 are women. The sitting MLA from Krishnanagar Dakshin is Ujjal Biswas of the AITC, who owned the seat in the 2011 assembly elections with 71,392 votes. He defeated CPM's Biswas Rana by a margin of 11,028 votes.
