About Kalyani Assembly Constituency
Kalyani is constituency No. 92 of West Bengal legislative assembly. It is situated in Nadia district. This seat is reserved for Scheduled Castes. It is part of Lok Sabha constituency No. 14 which is Bongaon. Kalyani assembly constituency was constituted in 2011 on the orders of the Delimitation Commission.
According to the Election Commission of India, Kalyani has 1,98,769 registered voters. There are 1,04,204 male and 94,565 female voters in this constituency.
Ramendranath Biswas of Trinamool Congress won this seat in the 2011 assembly elections. He defeated CPI(M)'s Jyotsna Sarkar (Sikder), his nearest rival, by a margin of 15,690 votes. Biswas bagged 92,322 votes while Sikder, the runner-up, got 76,632. The voter turnout was an impressive 90.17 %.
