Meerut is constituency No. 48 of Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly. It is situated in Meerut district and comes under Meerut Lok Sabha constituency. It is an open constituency.

According to data with the Election Commission of India, this constituency has 2,78,845 registered voters. It comprises 1,52,617 male and 1,26,209 female registered voters.

In the 2012 Assembly elections, the BJP defeated the Samajwadi Party by a margin of 6,278 votes to win this constituency. Laxmikant Bajpai, the winning BJP candidate, got 68,154 votes. Rafeeq Ansari of Samajwadi Party, the nearest contender, got 61,876 votes. The voter turnout was 64.26 %.
