Handia is constituency No. 258 of Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly.
It is situated in Allahabad district in Lower Doab region of the state. It comes under Bhadohi Lok Sabha constituency. It is an open constituency.
According to data with the Election Commission of India, Handia has 3,19,563 registered voters. It comprises 1,77,924 male and 1,41,600 female registered voters and 39 registered voters in Others category.
The Samajwadi Party won this constituency by a whopping margin of 45,379 votes in 2012. Maheshnarayan Singh, the winning Samajwadi Party candidate, got 88,475 votes. The runner-up was Rakeshdhar Tripathi of Pragatishil Manav Samaj Party (PMSP) who got 43,096 votes. The voter turnout was 57.08 %. A by-election to this constituency was held in 2013 in which Samajwadi Party member Prashant Kumar Singh emerged the winner.
