In 2018 state elections of Karnataka were held where Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the largest party. There are total of 224 legislative assembly seats in Karnataka, where BJP fell short of 9 seats to gain a clear majority. However, Governor Vijiubhai Vala invited Yedyurappa to take oath as Chief Minister of the State on 17 May, 2018 The major parties in competition are BJP, Congress and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda led Janata Dal Secular (JDS) . In the year, 2021, Basavraj Bommai was elected as the new Chief Minister of the state by the BJP legislators. In the results of legislative assembly elections of Rajasthan, held in 2018, Indian National Congress became the single largest. Congress gained 100 seats while BJP got 73 seats. In a definitive trend in Rajasthan, in every five-year tenure, the state sees a change in regime alternating between Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress.

In the 2018 Legislative Assembly Elections of Madhya Pradesh, Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the single largest party gaining 113 seats out of 230 constituencies in total. Madhya Pradesh is situated at the centre of the country which is mostly based on agricultural economy. However, BJP has been ruling the state for three consecutive tenures under the leadership of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, but in 2018 the part fell short of gaining full majority seats. In 2018, Congress party was able to form the government by taking the help of independent candidates. Veteran Congress leader Kamal Nath took oath as the Chief Minister of the state on 17 December. But, in a continuous hustle, Shivraj Singh Chouhan was able to gain a Supreme Court order in order to conduct a floor test in the assembly house. Kamal Nath stepped down from the post ahead of the floor test. And eventually, Shivraj Singh Chouhan took oath, fourth time, on 23rd March, 2020. For the upcoming assembly elections to be held on 2023, major political parties have started the preparation to derive the best result.
