The Demographic Bifurcation of the constituency is 64.23% Hindus, 35.42%Muslims, 0.08% Christians.
Shyamal Chakraborty candidate belonging to CPM won the seat in last election defeating Subal Bhowmik of BJP by 3,432 Votes.
