There are 41,588 voters in the constituency of which 36,698 voters voted in the last election making the voting to around 88.24%. The Demographic Bifurcation of the constituency is 73.20% Hindus, 15.24% Muslims and 6.35% Christians.
Biswabandhu Sen candidate belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party won the seat in last election defeating Abhijit De of Communist Party Of India (Marxist) by 7,287 Votes.
