There are 37,857 voters in the constituency of which 34,387 voters voted in the last election making the voting to around 90.83%. The Demographic Bifurcation of the constituency is 94.09% Hindus, 4.37% Muslims and 0.99% Christians.
Sahid Choudhuri candidate belonging to Communist Party Of India (Marxist) won the seat in last election defeating Baharul Islam Majumder of Bharatiya Janata Party by 8,015 Votes.
