The Demographic Bifurcation of the constituency is 84.17% Hindus, 15.62% Muslims and 0.09% Christians.
Bhanulal Saha candidate belonging to Communist Party Of India (Marxist) won the seat in last election defeating Nitai Chaudhuri of Bharatiya Janata Party by 766 Votes.
