There are 42,358 voters in the constituency of which 39,246 voters voted in the last election making the voting to around 92.65%. The Demographic Bifurcation of the constituency is 94.09% Hindus, 4.37% Muslims and 0.99% Christians.
Dilip Kumar Das candidate belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party won the seat in last election defeating Jhumu Sarkar of Communist Party Of India (Marxist) by 6,227 Votes.
