About Ramanathapuram Assembly Constituency

Ramanathapuram is constituency No. 211 of Tamil Nadu legislative assembly. This unreserved constituency is the administrative headquarters of Ramanthapuram district.

According to data collected by the Election Commission of India, Ramanathapuram has 2,26,191 registered voters. It has 1,13,389 male, and 1,12,797 female voters.

This assembly seat was won by the Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MAMAK) party in the 2011 assembly elections. Founded in 2009, the MAMAK party secured its maiden victory in this constituency. Jawahirulla, the winning candidate, bagged 65,831 votes. With 50,074 votes, INC candidate Hasan Ali K. was the runner-up. The winning margin was 15,757 votes. The voter turnout was 71.08 %.
