Arakkonam is constituency No. 38 of Tamil Nadu legislative assembly. It is situated in Vellore district and comes under Arakkonam Lok Sabha constituency. This constituency is reserved for scheduled castes.

According to the Election Commission of India, Arakkonam has 1,80,053 registered voters. It comprises 90,221 male and 89,832 female registered voters.

The AIADMK won this seat in the 2011 Assembly elections by a convincing margin of 26,237 votes. S. Ravi, the winning AIADMK candidate, got 79,409 votes. The runner-up was S. Sellapandian of VCK who got 53,172 votes. The voter turnout was 78.88 %.
