About Malappuram Assembly Constituency
Malappuram is constituency No. 40 of Kerala legislative assembly. It is situated in Malappuram district and comes under the Malappuram Lok Sabha constituency. It is an open constituency. The Malappuram Lok Sabha constituency was formed after delimitation in 2008.
According to the Election Commission of India, Malappuram has 1,67,739 registered voters. It comprises 83,660 male and 84,079 female registered voters.
In the 2011 assembly elections, P. Ubaidulla of Muslim League won this seat by a whopping margin of 44,508 votes. Ubaidullah secured 77,928 votes. Madathil Sadikali of JD(S), who got 33,420 votes, was the nearest contender. The voter turnout was 72.91 %.
