Dasarahalli's S Muniraju is a two-term MLA. In 2013, he won his seat with a large margin of about 22 thousand votes. Prior to joining the BJP, Muniraju claims he began his political career as a labour leader in 1976. According to Muniraju's affidavit, he is the subject of four active legal proceedings.
