About Kharsawan Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Reserved for the Scheduled Tribes, the assembly constituency of Kharsawan has been occupied by BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) since 2005. Arjun Munda won the by-polls of 2011. He also won the assembly elections of 2005. He defeated his nearest rival Dashrath Gagrai of J V (P). Munda bagged 61801 votes as against Gagrai's 44355 votes. Located in Seraikella - Kharsawan district of Jharkhand, the assembly constituency belongs to Khunti parliamentary constituency. As per 2011, the city had a population of 88,642. It was earlier known as Amda and was one of the princely Indian states.
