About Habbakadal Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency
Habbakadal is a place situated on the banks of river Jhelum. The assembly constituency of Habbakadal belongs to Srinagar parliamentary constituency. The seat has been a stronghold of Kashmiri pandits. 12 kashmiri pandits were in fray in 2008 assembly elections. Most of the candidates relied on the migrant votes. Shamima Firdous of JKNC won the elections and is the present MLA. He defeated his nearest rivel Hira Lal Chatta of BJP. Firdous got 2374 votes as against Chatta's mere 671 votes.
