>Amreli Parliamentary Constituency Election and Results Update



Known as Amarvalli during the ancient times, before becoming part of the erstwhile Vadodara State, the district of Amreli in Gujarat is representative of the Amreli Lok Sabha seat. It is one of the 26 Parliamentary constituencies which belong to this western Indian state of Gujarat. The total number of electorates in the Amreli Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 14) according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports are 1,312,733 of which 675,038 are males and 637,695 are females. Situated in the Amreli District of the Saurashtra regions of the “Jewel State” Gujarat, the Amreli city, belonging to the Amreli Parliamentary constituency, is the administrative capital of the Amreli District.

About 1,513,614 people reside here, making the district one of the most sparsely populated regions of the state. The economy of the Amreli District thrives on agriculture, as the region is industrially backward. Although the diamond industry is well-developed here, it mainly has some small industries like oil mills spread across the district. Being a prominent historical place in the state, it has several tourist attractions such as Tower of Amreli, Palace of King, Girdharilal Sangrahalaya Children Museum and Computer Education Centre (E-Library), Gandhi Bag (Gandhi Garden), Kamnath Dam, Mahadev Temple, Kamani Forward High School, Balaji Hanuman Temple, Sai Baba Temple, Pania Wild Life Sanctuary, Swaminarayan Gurukul in Taravada, Dhari Khodiyar Dam, Dhari Gir National Sanctuary, Dhari Yogiji Temple and Patel Sankul, among others.

Amreli Lok Sabha Election Results 2019


In 2009 Election Results the UPA won around 261 out of 543 seats, and in the second position was NDA with 158 seats, while 23 seats were won by Left parties.

In 2014 Election Results the BJP won 282 seats out of 543 seats. This took the NDA tally to 336 seats out of 543 seats in the Lok Sabha. INC could only manage to win 44 seats and stayed in the second position while AIADMK party from Tamil Nadu came third with 37 seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections.

In 2019, the BJP is set to return to power at the Centre after a sweeping win in the 2019 Lok Sabha election , armed with a bigger mandate than in the 2014 General Election. The party - led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah duo has secured 303 seats in the 17th Lok Sabha. Meanwhile, the Congress, the main Opposition party, managed to increase its vote share from 2014 only by a handful of votes, with a final tally of 52 seats. There will be no Leader of Opposition in the upcoming Lower House for a second consecutive term.
