Shri Pralhad Joshi is the current minister of Mines

The Ministry of Mines formulates and administer the rules, regulations and laws related to mines in the country. It is responsible for the survey and exploration of all minerals except petroleum, natural gases and atomic minerals. It is also responsible for mining and metallurgy of non-ferrous metals sucha s zinc, gold, copper, aluminium, nickle etc. It also administer Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 (MMDR Act). The ministry is headed by the Minister of Mines and presently Raosaheb Danve is the head of the ministry.
