About Election Commission of Punjab

The State Election Commission of Punjab was constituted by the article 243K and 243ZA of the Constitution of India. The prime responsibility of the Punjab State Election Commission is to conduct free and fair elections to all the local bodies in the state under the provisions of the Indian Constitution. Amendments No. 73 and 74 made to the Constitution of India enforced part IX and IX-A that primarily theorise the jurisdiction and functional limits of the village/zilla panchayats and municipal bodies respectively.
