2013 Meghalaya Assembly Election Results
Meghalaya, a landlocked hilly state in the north east was originally a part of the state of Assam, consisting of the Garo Hills district and the United Jaintia and Khasi Hill district in the state of Assam. In 1970, it became a state consisting of these districts within Assam after the Assam Reorganization act was passed in 1969. 2013 Nagaland Assembly Election Results
Nagaland in the north east of India became the 16th state of the Indian Union on 1 December 1963. Earlier, in 1957, this state was an autonomous district in Assam consisting of Tuensang and Naga hills division of the Assam.
In 1961, following the Naga people's demand, the Indian Government agreed to the formation of a separate state of Nagaland. Before the first Assembly elections were held in the state, Nagaland constituted an Interim Body of 42 members with an interim executive council headed by a Chief Executive Officer. Dr Imkongliba Ao, the founder of the Naga People's Convention became the Chairman of the Interim Body. Mr P Shilo was appointed the first Executive Councilor and after the elections to the state assembly became the first chief minister of the state. Mr S C Jamir was the first member of the Parliament from the state. He was nominated to the third Lok Sabha by the Interim Body. Mr Melhupra Vero was the first Rajya Sabha MP from the state. 2013 Tripura Assembly Election Results
Tripura in the northeast is one of the smallest states in India. After India's independence Tripura became a Union Territory of India in 1956. Elections were held for the first Territorial Council of 30 members of the Union Territory in 1957. On January 21, 1972, it became a full-fledged state of the country.
The state has a unicameral legislature with one house of the State Assembly also called the Vidhan Sabha. Tripura State Legislative Assembly has 60 directly elected members. The tenure of the Vidhan Sabha is five years unless it is dissolved. The seat of the Legislative Assembly is at Agartala, the capital of the state.
