Indian Natinal Congress Manifesto
Congress Party party's manifesto ahead of elections in the state focuses on various problems including farmer distress, the livelihood of women and education for all.
Congress has carefully taken inputs from varied organizations and representations, including farmers, women representatives', workers organizations, students, teachers, mining workers, Tendu Patta workers, tribals, businessmen, doctors, nurses, political outfits, housewives, lawyers, amongst others.
Called the 'People's Manifesto', it is aimed at improving the policy-making in order to benefit various quarters of the society and their interests. In the manifesto, Congress has promised immediate loan waivers within 10 days of being voted to power. They have also promised better healthcare facilities and a safer society for women of Chhattisgarh.
Here are the salient features of the manifesto:
- All loans of farmers will be immediately waved within 10 days of the formation of Congress Government in the state. MSPs will also be fixed as per the Swaminathan Commission report and provisions for the pension of farmers above 60 years of age will be put in place
- Addressing the acute state of poverty in the state, the Manifesto also promises 35 kilograms of rice at the cost of Rs 1 only every month
- Electricity bills will also be cut by half for domestic consumption, provisioning of houses and land to urban and rural families has also been promised
- Taking the cause of 'Ghar Ghar Rozgaar, Har Ghar Rozgaar' further, the manifesto has also promised apprenticeship programs and employment opportunities for the youth. Under the Rajiv Mitr Yojna, the Congress government will also provide monthly stipend to 10lakh unemployed youngsters for financial support
- Under the Congress' Jan Ghoshna Patra, Women safety has been placed on top priority. Pertaining to this, there will be strict enforcement of laws, setting up of special women police stations and women help cells in every police station once the government is formed. Special conveyance for women for late night commuting has also been promised
- Introducing the Universal Healthcare Program is also a priority under which free and quality health services will be provided. Air ambulances will be provisioned for areas like Bastar, Sarguja, and Supebeda while several medical colleges may be converted to multi-speciality hospitals
