A part of the Karakat Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituency, Obra is a legislative assembly segment in the state of Bihar. A total of 2,91,647 people of the Obra legislative assembly segment are enlisted as eligible to vote, out of whom 1,56,944 are men and 1,34,693 are women. This constituency recorded a 55.16 % voter participation during the Bihar Assembly election 2015.
RJD�s Birendra Kumar Sinha is the sitting MLA of the Obra constituency, who won the seat with 56,042 votes in the assembly elections held in 2015, Chandra Bhushan Verma of BLSP was the runner-up with 44,646 votes.
