Harnaut is a legislative assembly constituency in the Nalanda district of Bihar. Harnaut is a part of the Nalanda Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituency of the state. The sitting MLA of the Harnaut assembly segment is Harinarayan Singh of JD (U), who won the seat with 56,827 votes in the 2010 assembly elections. RJD's Arun Kumar was the nearest competitor of Harinarayan Singh and settled with 37,030 votes.
The Harnaut assembly segment has a big electorate of around 2,74,937 eligible voters, out of whom 1,46,144 are males and 1,28,781 are females. As recommended by the Delimitation Commission of India in 2008, the Harnaut assembly constituency covers Nagar Nausa, Chandi and Harnaut community development blocks.
