About Hajipur Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Hajipur Vidhan Sabha/Assembly constituency is located in the Vaishali district of Bihar. It comes under the Hajipur Lok Sabha constituency which is reserved for Scheduled Tribes. BJP’s Awadhesh Singh represents this constituency in the Bihar Legislative Assembly. He also had won in 2014 by-poll held on this seat.

Prior to him, BJP’s Nityanand Rai has been winning this constituency since the year 2000 up to 2010. He had to vacate this seat since he was elected to the Ujarpur Lok Sabha constituency. Overall, BJP has a stronghold in the Hajipur constituency since the year 2000. The next Bihar Assembly Election is due in October-November 2020.

This constituency is home to 3,11,651 eligible voters as per the 2015 election. Out of which; 1,68,323 are males; 1,43,315 females; and 13 third gender. The voter turnout in Hajipur was 57%. There was a margin of 6.92% votes between the winner Awadhesh Singh (BJP) and the runner up Jagganath Prasad Rai (INC).
