About Jharkhand Assembly Election 2014
Jharkhand is rich in resources and is the 28th state in India. The state was formed in the year 2000 after its separation from Bihar. It is a politically active state and has many national and regional parties. Besides, the political parties, the state has a large number of independent leaders. The state Assembly has 81 assembly and 14 parliamentary constituencies. The Vidhan Sabha of Jharkhand consists of 81 seats to which the members are directly elected by the general eligible electorate. The fate of the candidates was decided by about two crore voters. The major parties in the state include Indian National Congress (INC), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha Prajatantrik (JVM).
In the General Elections 2014, Congress had been rejected by the Jharkhand electorate. As a part of the strategy for the assembly elections, Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) organised 'chintan shivir' in different parts of the state to find means to earn back the faith of the people. JPCC leaders were urged to be aware of the problems of the people of their districts and find out the demands of the people. But this did not work out for the INC. Jharkhand Legislative Assembly Elections Summary 2014
The Jharkhand State Legislative Assembly elections for 2014 were held in five phases between November 25 and December 20, while the results were announced on 23 December. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest party winning 37 of the 81 assembly seats, falling just five short of the clear majority mark of 42. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) won 19 seats to come second after BJP.The then incumbent chief minister Hemant Soren of JMM had contested the elections from Dumka and Barhait assembly constituencies. Soren won in Barhait with 62,515 votes against BJP's Hemlal Murmu who was the runner-up with 38,428 votes. Though, Soren had to taste defeat in Dumka at the hands of BJP's Lois Marandi who won 70,367 votes to the former's 65,105.
Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand Babulal Marandi of JVM (P) came third in his native assembly constituency of Girdih, winning 26,665 votes lagging far behind the eventual winner Nirbhay Kumar Shahabadi of BJP who bagged 57, 450 votes. Marandi lost in the Dhanwar assembly segment as well with 39,922 votes in his kitty falling close to eleven thousand short of the number of votes won by Rajkumar Yadaw of CPI (M).
Although contesting under the favourite BJP's flag, ex-chief minister Arjun Munda could not win from Kharasawan assembly seat. Munda was the runner-up in the seat with just over sixty thousand votes, losing out to JMM's Dashrath Gagrai who won 70,002 votes. But BJPs tried and tested man in the state, Raghbar Das came out victorious in his native Jamshedpur East with a thumping margin. Das won 1,03,427 votes as compared to the runner-up Anand Bihari Dubey of INC who could win just 33,270 votes. Although, the BJP did win most number of seats in the state yet did not have the sufficient number of seats required to form a government on its own.
However, the BJP got the required support to form the government in the state from outside. Subsequently, BJP's experienced leader in the state and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national President Amit Shah's close associate Raghbar Das was chosen by the party high command to be the next Chief Minister of Jharkhand. It was an unprecedented decision by BJP to have elected a non-tribal chief minister for the state. Raghbar Das was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on 28 December 2014.

Each district is governed by a deputy commissioner. The judiciary consists of a High Court in Ranchi and other district courts, subdivisional courts, munsifs’ (subordinate judicial officers’) courts, and village councils.Issues of the state
