Thiruvalla is constituency No. 111 of Kerala legislative assembly. This unreserved assembly seat is situated in Pathanamthitta district. It comes under the Pathanamthitta Lok Sabha constituency which was formed following delimitation exercise by the Election Commission of India in 2008.
According to the Election Commission of India, this assembly constituency has 1,93,874 registered voters. It comprises 90,720 male and 1,03,154 female registered voters.
In the 2011 assembly elections, the JD(S) won this seat by a convincing margin of 10,767 votes. Mathew T. Thomas, the winning candidate, got 63,289 votes. KEC(M) party's Victor T. Thomas was the nearest contender with 52,522 votes. The voter turnout was 65.33 %.
