Date of Election
The 2013 Assembly Elections for Rajasthan were held on December 1. The results of the election will be announced on December 8.

Major opponents Rajasthan Assembly Election 2013
Like many other states in India, the major opponents in Rajasthan are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC), the latter being currently in power. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's record, however, has not been exemplary. Adding to the INC's woes are several cases of rape and sexual assault against some of its ministers and legislators.

The BJP will hope to capitalize on this and the "Modi effect" to pull the voters towards itself. Most major opinion polls are also predicting an advantage for the BJP.

As per guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI), political parties have to limit their campaign expenditure to Rs. 16 lakh per candidate.
