The Demographic Bifurcation of the constituency is 93.43% Christians, 4.94% Hindus and 0.74% Muslims.
Lazarus Sangma candidate belonging to Indian National Congress won the seat in last election defeating Secondson A Sangma of National People's Party by 2,051 Votes.
