About Ralegaon Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency
Ralegaon is a census town in Yavatmal district of Maharashtra. The town is also the district
headquarters.
As of 2011 India census, it had a population of 112,203. The assembly constituency of
Ralegaon falls under
Yavatmal-Washim parliamentary constituency. The constituency is reserved for the Scheduled
Tribes. The
seat is the INC bastion. Prof. Vasant Chindhuji Purke of INC won the 2009 assembly elections
for the
fourth consecutive time and is the present MLA. He defeated his nearest rival Ashok Ramaji
Wooike, an
independent candidate with a huge margin. Purke bagged 74622 votes as against Wooike's 34204
votes.
