About Jammu West Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency
One of the 87 assembly constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu West is a part of Jammu parliamentary constituency. Sunil Dimple, the President Jammu West Assembly Movement recently demanded the status of district for the constituency. Dimple said that the place is neglected in terms of development, law and order and employment opportunities.He appealed the youth to support him in his protest. He said that he will contest the upcoming assembly elections if people want him to. Prof Chaman Lal Gupta of BJP won the 2008 assembly elections. He defeated Surinder Singh Shangari an independent candidate. Gupta bagged 34288 votes as against Shangari's 21251 votes.
